For your fourth paper you will be required to write an essay 7-10 pages long, presenting your research on a specific topic.  You can choose any topic you wish to conduct research on, and present your findings in your essay.  How does your research support your argument?  What vital information does your essay teach your reader on your topic?  Your essay should include research to support a specific position or point you are making about your topic.  Your essay needs to be clear and unified under your thesis.  Please correctly cite quotes from outside texts using MLA format, and use them to expand on your own ideas.

Grading Criteria

Successful papers will have:

1. A developed introductory paragraph, with a clear thesis.

1. Analysis of what your research essay teaches readers about your topic, and why it is important to know this information.

1. Well-supported, unified body paragraphs with specific examples that support your thesis and make your argument persuasive to the audience.  Evidence demonstrates student’s original thoughts and analysis of the topic.

1. A conclusion that summarizes your main point and offers a final thought about your topic.

1. A MLA formatted work cited page, listing all outside sources.
