For some of the disorders, you will find that neurotransmitters are altered at different times or stages. For example, when a person has an epileptic seizure, a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) deficiency may be associated with the onset of seizures; however, the levels may be normal during other times. Your goal will be to identify at least one neurotransmitter that is altered early at some point after the injury or onset of the disorder. State what role the neurotransmitter plays in central nervous system (CNS) functions and then provide an example of what happens when the neurotransmitter is either decreased or increased.
