A local Clinic has opened in the area and has gotten a large influx of incoming patients due to the recent tragedies occurring around the United States. We have been tasked with helping the efficiency of scheduling, planning and locating information on the multiple patients that arrive to the hospital a day. Due to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA, the identities of all patients must be kept confidential so each patient must be assigned a unique number identifier. The current system in the hospital has not done this. Doctors can’t efficiently tend to the patients and have caused a backlog in the schedule. Patients don’t know who their doctor is until the day of the appointment and the doctors have rotating schedules also creating scheduling conflicts. This database is aimed to allow for an easier organization of patients, doctors and appointments so that the actual appointment process is much more efficient.
