A 47 year old female presents with shortness of breath and haemoptysis. Investigations
reveal a mediastinal mass and biopsies confirm small cell carcinoma. Staging scans
confirm disease confined to the mediastinum and left hilum. She will be treated with
curative (radical) intent using concurrent radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

i. Explain the variation in absorbed dose at point A, the soft tissue/lung
interface.

point C.
